Biggest Waste of Time and A Forty Thousand Peso DSLR Camera Ever: Urban Wrestling With Coco’s Favorite CDs (Nos. 12 to 7)

April 27, 2008

Remember Tintin’s DSLR camera which I almost broke before? Well we finally got it back from being repaired a month ago; we even got to bring it to the beach. But we really haven’t been going out as much as we want to and it would be such a waste to find no use for the camera. So I asked her to bring it to my place last weekend since I recently renovated my room (my third room in 10 months), and I wanted to have the changes documented. Fair enough.

Although, I also had the dumb idea to have pictures of my favorite CDs taken next to some of my pose-able wrestling figures. Guess what Coco decided to write about first.

Twelve CDs. Twelve goofy-ass wrestling poses. The asininity is LEGENDARY. Here we go:

#12: The Detroit Cobras "Seven Easy Pieces"

http://img293.imageshack.us/img293/6725/12seveneasypiecesqi9.jpg

Okay, so it’s only a seven-song EP, but I wanted an excuse to make it seem as if WCW Chris Jericho were motorboating this naked woman (Is this Rachel Nagy? Can anyone confirm? Wikipedia isn’t being wiki-wiki-helpful). All cleavage-guzzling-related talk aside, this EP spawned "99 and A Half Just Won’t Do," and I don’t care if they made armpit noises for the rest of CD, that song alone warrants this album a place on my list. Also, boobies.

#11: Death From Above 1979 "You’re A Woman I’m A Machine"

http://img178.imageshack.us/img178/1214/11youreawomanimamachinefk0.jpg

It’s a shame that I don’t have the money to buy this band’s remixes CD. It’s an even bigger shame that this band is no longer around. It would have been the biggest shame if I didn’t take a picture of WCW Ric Flair about to drop a forearm smash onto this CD. Good thing I avoided said shame by having a girlfriend that pretty much does every damned thing I ask her to. Like taking stupid photos of stupid toys and stupid CDs. YOU HEAR THAT, WOMAN?! GET ME SOME GRAPES!

#10: AC/DC "Back In Black"

http://img294.imageshack.us/img294/4994/10backinblacked2.jpg

It’s Jericho again, albeit the millennium/WWF edition. With the WWF title, of course. Holding a sledgehammer. While oddly standing on a pack of Skittles. Next to "Back In Black." One of my many fond memories from college was driving to and sleeping in Ortigas at least twice a week to work on our papers, while Bim, Ute, Huey, and I occasionally loop this CD in the car and at the office. It’s a classic.

#9: Jimmy Eat World "Bleed American"

http://img159.imageshack.us/img159/3513/9bleedamericanmx3.jpg

Most fans consider "Clarity" to be the definitive JEW album, but then again, most fans ARE WRONG AND ARE STUPID LIARS WHO WILL GO TO HELL. I remember buying this at the Odyssey in ATC’s old wing back in 2001. It used to be where the magazine place is now. Also, the cover has awards and medals and such, so I posed Samoa Joe right beside it, clutching his X-Division MVP trophy.

#8: The Bronx "The Bronx" (2003)

http://img159.imageshack.us/img159/9702/8thebronxdh7.jpg

Had to specify the year because this band is so badass, they decided to self-title two of their albums. My biggest fan(s) (Mom and whoever) might be familiar with their song "Heart Attack American," which I manage to eke into my work as much as I can. Click here and here for some examples. And that’s The Alpha Male Monty Brown about to P-P-Pounce the shit out of it.

#7: The Starting Line "Based On A True Story"

http://img390.imageshack.us/img390/2663/7basedonatruestorybo8.jpg

The band went on hiatus a while ago, and although they’ll certainly come back, I just want to send out my love.

I own every TSL record, and "BOATS" has to be my all-time favorite. I think the first time I found out about these guys was on some site called Americanpunk back in 2002. They were holding a contest and giving away copies of their full-length debut, "Say It Like You Mean It." I signed up and didn’t win, probably because I live in this hellhole that is the third world. So I checked out their mp3.com page, downloaded "Cheek to Cheek" and the rest, as they say, is history.

One of the new projects as a result of this hiatus, The 76, looks reaaaally promising, though. I’ve been looping "Janey" since I found out about the break. And I almost forgot: that’s Samoa Joe once again, giving the Coquina Clutch to The Fallen Angel Christopher Daniels. Life is peachy.

I just realized that this was an even bigger waste of the camera, seeing as I needed to minimize the photos for the blog. Part Two goes up sometime this week. As if you care.

I sure hope there’s someone being powerbombed through a CD in Part 2.

Sadly, I didn’t come up with any intricate stuff for this series. Although I’m planning on doing something similar for my DVDs on Cinemabuzz. I’ll have to raid my brother’s room to increase my roster, though.
