May 2, 2008The digital debauchery continues with my six most beloved albums of all time. (Previously: Nos. 12-7)
Also, in case you’re wondering, and you probably aren’t, but I’ll say it anyway, a lot of these albums are from the early to mid-2000s. My interest in music peaked when I was in college, hence the abundance of titles on this list which were released in that period, and my lack of a sex life.
#6: Andrew W.K. "I Get Wet"
And here he is getting a big boot from Lance Hoyt. I first heard material from Mr. W.K. on the soundtrack of Jackass: The Movie, and from "We Want Fun" alone, I knew that I needed to hear more. I don’t generally enjoy going to places where loud music is played, as it hinders my concentration on getting stone-drunk. But if there’s one album that should be played in its entirety at any party, it’s this one. Also, the intro to "Ready to Die" was my message alert tone for at least two years.

#5: Tenacious D "Tenacious D"
Back in late 2001, I was going through a really tough breakup, and I distinctly remember conveying the news to my Mom on the phone while she and my Dad were in the States. She did the typical Mom stuff like saying that it was going to be alright, that I was young, that there’s plenty of other fish in the sea, etc. I got all choked up but the next 29 words to come out of her mouth immediately brought a smile to my face:

#4: Jack’s Mannequin "Everything In Transit"
Poppy, piano-driven rock from the lead vocalist of Something Corporate. Tommy Lee recorded the drums for almost all the tracks, if that helps. Also, I want MFEO: Made for Each Other to be my wedding song, although I don’t think that it has anything to do with love at all. But whu-eva! I do what I want! I really didn’t know what to do with Ric Flair here, so that’s him next to the CD, with a TV on his head.

CHURCH. Hands down the best album in the last two years. I know it’s only been 13 months since I bought it, but everytime I hear Millstone, I feel all nostalgic and get taken back to the summer of 2007. It doesn’t even have anything to do with the lyrics; it’s just one of those albums that define a specific period in my life. For no apparent reason.
I was trying to do "The Fallen Angel" Christopher Daniels’ trademark pose with the thing with his hands but he ended up looking like he’s jazzercising. FAIL.

#2: Cartel "Chroma"
That’s "Lionheart" Chris Jericho about to Lionsault the shit out of Chroma, which is pop-punk greatness albumified. There isn’t a song here that I hate. Without question, this band needs to be getting as much attention as your Paramores and your Fall Out Boys and your Panics At the Disco.
#1: blink-182 "The Mark, Tom, and Travis Show"
I couldn’t pick between any of their studio releases so I went for a sort-of best of/live album. There really isn’t much that I can say. Good comedy bits, even greater music. Best band ever. PLEASE COME BACK. Oh, and that’s Lance Hoyt once again, dropping the big elbow off my hand.
